Well found blue water cruiser for sale $150k.  Currently located in Melbourne, FL.

Stormy Monday has been part of the family since 2001.

Her pedigree is interesting. She is a Slocum 42 but was built by Formosa Boat Building in Taiwan as a 1986 model. She is slightly different from the Slocum 43. She also shares the hull and interior layout with the mid-80’s Passport 42. The design is by Stan Huntingford. So I always say the she has the same dad as the other boats but different moms.

Stormy Monday has a modified cruising keel (encapsulated) with a skeg hung rudder.  She draws 6 feet 4 inches when not loaded up.  She is surprising fast and has a nice motion when sailed hard.

The boat’s layout is great for a couple.  It has a forward cabin with a double berth.  Then aft of that is a head with a shower tub/enclosure.  Then a nice salon and table follows.  The galley and nav station is next.  The galley is well laid out for actual use.  And the well insulated icebox has a top opening icebox and a front opening fridge.  Then aft of this are the owner’s cabin on the port side and a quarter berth on the starboard side.

The aft cockpit is built for ocean cruising, deep and workable.  The stern of the boat now has an arch holding the solar panels and wind generator.  The arch incorporates a lifting davit for the outboard motors and other accumulated stuff.

Stormy Monday has come a long way since I first stepped onto her.  The teak decks have been removed, along with the resulting leaks. And the decks and cabin all repainted.  This was done by my buddy Toad. Rebuilt mast, boom, new standing rigging, new main, jib and staysail, along with the little bits that went into them.  All of this was done by Mack Sails in Stuart. Upgraded solar and electrical stuff, installed by me.  A Sprectra watermaker was installed last year and is a very neat addition.  And a lot of the general cruising upgrades have been done with the help of my brother Ed (Ladybug).

  • Headroom is 6’4″or more throughout the boat with incredible storage capacity. Beautiful Burmese teak joinery runs throughout; solid teak staving, all doors are beveled and hand fitted, lockers are teak lined and the glossy varnished cabin sole is teak with holly plank The interior is finished with a satin varnish and high gloss accents on the trim. The teak doors are louvered
  • There is room for up to 6 people to sleep – in the forward cabin, main salon, quarter berth and the master cabin.
  • Forward cabin – large offset double berth to port with a seat located to starboard. Row of lockers and bookshelf. Large overhead ventilation hatch that supplies plenty of light and ventilation. Insect netting for berth.
  • Quarter berth – this berth is located at the base of the companionway to starboard and is perfect for sleeping underway when sailing shorthanded. In port it makes a great storage place for cockpit seat cushions and similar gear
  • Master cabin- across from the quarter berth, adjacent to the companionway to port, is the master cabin. It has a spacious double berth with reading lights, storage drawers below the berth, shelves beside the berth, and a full hanging locker. There are large opening ports and an overhead hatch for light and air. Insect netting for berth
  • Head / WC – a spacious head with a full sized stall shower with a tub enclosure as its base. There is pressure hot and cold water for both sink and shower. There is a teak vanity and a ventilated storage locker for all your necessities plus 2 opening ports for ventilation.
  • Main Salon – The main salon consists of a settee to starboard and a spacious squared shaped dinette to port. Hullside bookshelves are flanked by 2 storage lockers. There is generous storage under both seating areas and behind the settee.
  • Dinette – The beautiful dinette table has a storage locker built into the center. More bookshelves and lockers line the hullside with even more under seat storage
  • Navigation station – a classically styled spacious navigation station consisting of a chart table with seat, storage within desk and the ship’s electrical system with the AC and DC control panels and gauges. The electrical panel is hinged and opens for access to breakers and buss bars. Further storage under the navigator’s seat. Aft of the chart table is a hanging wet locker.

    I have a passport 42 and need to rewire the mast. Do you know anything about the mast wiring? I can’t pull wires. Is there a harness or junction boxes. Any comments before Tuesday June 1 would be very useful. BTW my e-mail is I’m not a member of this network.

      Sorry it took so long to reply, but we had Mack Sails in Stuart FL pull mast and do all of the rewiring. The wiring came out of the bottom of the mast to a terminal strip underneath that floor board. Hope that helps!
